What is a GLOBAL event?

With the goal of bringing the KB4girls local chapters and their members as well as other female kiters from all around the world together for an empowering experience, the KB4girls GLOBAL events are social kite-get-togethers with a strong focus on furthering the kiteboarding skills of the participating females (or getting them into the sport in beginner events), building friendships, boosting self-confidence and creating transformational experiences.

The GLOBAL events include on and off the water coaching with pro-coaches, including KB4girls founder and 9x World Champion Kristin Boese, as well as simulator training, a video lesson, group building and evening activities as well as goodie bags and some catering (varies by event). 

These events are held complete FREE of charge for the participants; however, the women and girls are asked to give back by raising funds through their own personal fundraising pages at the www.kb4girls.org website. The donations collected go to an important local charity (usually one that helps disadvantaged women and children) that is chosen in cooperation with the local organizers and announced on the event registration page. 

Each KB4girls GLOBAL event has its very own charm and while an event in Northern Europe may have less kite-time on the water (due to the temperature) but more party time (watch these UK girls go crazy at the parties!), others may include kiting all day and less time to socialize. Even if the wind does not cooperate for an event there are plenty of things to do and learn and no-wind-events have turned out to be some of the most intense experiences for participants in the past. 

And why again do I have to raise funds through a personal fundraising page?

Well, we simply feel like this is the perfect solution for the KB4girls GLOBAL events for 2 reasons: 

1)     it will allow us to keep the events completely FREE for all participating girls and women

2)     it will still allow us to raise funds and fulfill the mission of our foundation

What skills do I have to have if I want to participate? 

As we briefly mentioned above, some of our KB4girls GLOBAL events are for girls and women that already kite while others are open to beginners as well and you can find the "skill level" of each event in the corresponding event pages. 

Any female kiter that wants to join a KB4girls GLOBAL event that is not a beginner event will need to be able to go upwind and kite comfortably and independently.  The simple reason of not being able to accommodate less advanced kiters in ALL events is that we would require a much higher number of staff. 

However, if you are able to go upwind and feel comfortable launching and landing as well as riding then for us you are an "advanced" rider and are welcome to join our "advanced" level events... no matter how young or old you are (a supervising person might be necessary if under 18), where you come from and what your background is - all we care about is that you enjoy catching up and kiting with other girls, getting motivated and gaining confidence through the KB4girls experience! :)

Beginners are those girls who have never had any kite lesson before or never made it onto the board. We are very happy to be able to open up some of our events to pure beginners and to be able to give them the chance to get into kiteboarding in a fun and very female environment! Beginner girls might want to be warned: this sport is extremely addictive and you might not want to do anything else anymore – ever!
