KB4girls Chapter Program PDF Print E-mail

Overview

The KB4girls foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded by 9x World Champion Kristin Boese in December 2009 with the vision and goal to empower women through the sport of kiteboarding and give them the support they deserve.

By having run more than 20 non-profit/fundraising female kiteboarding events all around the world in its first 2 years of existence, the KB4girls foundation has quickly become a name in the sport and has found the support of national and international kite associations, kite tours as, the worldwide kite media and of course the female community.

To be able to empower even more girls and women around the world through the sport, the KB4girls foundation now takes its program and concept even further by introducing local and national chapters and creating a global umbrella for female kiteboarding groups.

Giving motivated female kiters with the shared vision of supporting women in the sport the guidance and infrastructure needed to start a local program at their spot, the KB4girls chapter program gives females all around the world the possibility to engage in the local activities realized by the local chapters.

With five big "KB4girls global" events the foundation then gives the chapters and female kiters the opportunity to come together with girls and women from other states and countries to share the KB4girls communities' experience on a cross-boarder level.

Chapter objectives

The KB4girls chapters, spearheaded by passionate local kiteboarding women, are the building stones of the worldwide female network that furthers the influence of females in the sport of kiteboarding and reaches out to girls and women all around the globe. If it is by kiteboarding, other sports and no-wind activities, or just social get-togethers, the KB4girls local chapters follow one and the same calling: giving females the attention and support they deserve!

In detail the objectives of the KB4girls chapter program are, to:

  • Provide a supportive environment for female kiters to help them leave their fears and hesitations behind
  • Create a worldwide network for women to connect to at home and abroad
  • Encourage girls and women to get into the sport
  • Motivate more female riders to compete in national and international competitions by encouraging the spirit of friendly competition and pushing one’s personal limits

KB4girls chapter requirements

While the KB4girls foundation encourages all women to get involved in one way or the other it is also important to ensure a positive environment for the female participants. Therefore certain standards have been set for the local chapters.

Minimum requirements for a KB4girls chapter and its ambassador(s) are to:

  • Set an example and be supportive to all women looking for a female kite community
  • Organize at least one chapter activity per month within the season
  • Supply annual chapter activity calendar to be included in KB4girls.org website
  • Update the chapter page (blog) on the KB4girls.com website as well as the chapter facebook page with activity reports, pictures and more
  • Use KB4girls templates and documents for chapter activities and marketing
  • Follow the KB4girls safety guidelines and provide a completed risk assessment form for each "event site"
  • Display the KB4girls flags at the chapters home base (if existent) and during the activities
  • Promote safe kiting and encourage all participants to have 3rd party public liability and personal medical insurance

On top of that but not necessarily required, chapters may:

  • Sign up their participants to become KB4girls members
  • Encourage new women to get into the sport with “Learn to Fly a Kite” events
  • Partner with a local kite school or shop that can serve as the chapter home base but more importantly as the contact point for interested participants and females traveling to your spot
  • Support a local charity that supports girls and women in need through fundraising efforts

Ideas for monthly KB4girls chapter activities:

  • Kite get-togethers and female kite sessions
  • Planned “downwinders” (safety required)
  • Specified clinic sessions: old school, wake style, slider, waves, etc.
  • Women-only fun competitions (in cooperation with local or national associations or independently organized)
  • “Learn to Fly a Kite” days for girls and women
  • Fun kiting trip - weekend away with the girls
  • BBQ's/movie nights for no-wind seasons
  • SUP tour, bike tour or other sports adventures for no-wind days
  • Whatever else your community can dream up or would like!

KB4girls global event challenge

Two KB4girls chapters will win the opportunity to hold one of the KB4girls global events and bring founder and 9x World Champion Kristin Boese to their beach in 2013! Become "top KB4girls chapter 2012" by either:

  1. Signing up the most female kiters for a KB4girls membership through your events or other chapter activities.
  2. Getting the most girls and women into the sport through your chapter activities (paid kiteboarding lessons do not count and only free of charge kite lessons will be counted, every new female kiteboarder needs to be proved via the form here)

Becoming a KB4girls Chapter

Passionate local kiteboarding women (Ambassadors) are needed to spearhead each professional organized KB4girls chapter and create empowering activities for female kiters.

Are you interested in becoming part of the KB4girls movement?

First review the requirements closely. Can you imagine fulfilling them on a long-term basis? KB4girls envisions a long-term relationship with its chapters and their women’s kiting communities.
