Elliot Heads KB4girls Camp
What an awesome two days of kiting in near perfect conditions. With winds of 25 plus knots, all the girls were on their small kites. We took up a few spare small kites, so everyone could get out on the water. The Local Elliot crew were very welcoming; we don't think they had seen that many girls on the water since the National titles were held there back in 2008 ;).
A few girls were really disappointed they could not make the camp due to work and other commitments, but the girls that came were really stoked. A few comments included "It was great just to kite with other girls" & "It is helpful having someone you can copy to show you what to try". I was really proud of the girls as they helped launch and land each other and basically supported each other for the whole camp. All the girls got a great confidence boost.
We caught up after kiting to exchange photos & to use the photos as coaching tools, over a few glasses of wine of course. We had a great night out for dinner in near by Bargara. Everyone crashed out from a full on day of kiting; even those camping out without a matress (Yolanda) ouch!
Day 2 was even windier, we managed a few hours on the water before we were over powered, even on the little kites. With some girls having a long trip in front of them, we reluctantly packed up to head home with the wind still howling.
With the season here getting a little less reliable through May & June, we will probably have a few social nights & kick back on with the practical kiting sessions in July.
