I am a mum of 2 boys, run the family business Adventure Sports Kitesurf Australia and KSAdesigns (kite specific clothing label). I have been kiteboarding for over 3 years now & love my personal time on the water. It is awesome to set personal goals, have my own head space & get a phsycial work out all at the same time. I started kiting when I was nearly 40, so I can vouch for how achievable it can be for women of all ages & fitness levels. Give it a go; with quality instruction and local support, anyone can do it!

What an awesome two days of kiting in near perfect conditions.  With winds of 25 plus knots, all the girls were on their small kites.  We took up a few spare small kites, so everyone could get out on the water. The Local Elliot crew were very welcoming; we don't think they had seen that many girls on the water since the National titles were held there back in 2008 ;).

A few girls were really disappointed they could not make the camp due to work and other commitments, but the girls that came were really stoked.  A few comments included "It was great just to kite with other girls" & "It is helpful having someone you can copy to show you what to try".  I was really proud of the girls as they helped launch and land each other and basically supported each other for the whole camp.  All the girls got a great confidence boost.

We caught up after kiting to exchange photos & to use the photos as coaching tools, over a few glasses of wine of course.  We had a great night out for dinner in near by Bargara.  Everyone crashed out from a full on day of kiting; even those camping out without a matress (Yolanda) ouch!

Day 2 was even windier, we managed a few hours on the water before we were over powered, even on the little kites.  With some girls having a long trip in front of them, we reluctantly packed up to head home with the wind still howling.

With the season here getting a little less reliable through May & June, we will probably have a few social nights & kick back on with the practical kiting sessions in July.

Any suggestions welcome, stay in touch with our blog here or on Facebook with Kitesurf Australia

I am stoked to report that we held our first event on Sunday & all the girls reported a great time. The best thing is that everyone really seemed to have achieved some major mile stones and we had everything from "I really enjoyed that, I think that was my best session ever" to "kitastrophys" that ended up being a huge confidence boost in the end because no boys were allowed to help and the girls had to sort it out themselves. (with our instructions of course)

It was great to have Chris Wardell came along to offer some extra support and Sam chatted with the more advanced girls to help them achieve their goals.

Our target for this first event was more towards early intermediate riders & they really got the most out of it.  A couple of girls were trying back rolls and most of the participants were just happy to learn how to pop and have a "cool" looking stance etc.

I can only say it was a great day and I really enjoyed the company. Looking forward to the next session already which will hopefully take place at Elliot Heads! We will keep you updated!

For now check out a few photos from our first event on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150601118694339&set=t.564249338&type=1&theater (I was too busy kiting to get any at the river mouth,  did anyone else get any? If so please post links to your galleries in the comments field or send me an e-mail!)

Hi girls, check this out & let me know if you think this charity is a good option for our efforts.

http://tiny.cc/ps36y

One thing which Kristin encourages is that each chapter of KB4girls supports a charity.  As Kristin has been such an inspirational sportswomen, I thought our own Aussie surfer Layne Beachley's foundation might be a fitting partner.  You never know we might even get Layne into kiteboarding!  I recently met Layne at a charity SUP (stand up paddle) event.

Your feedback or other suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Hey to all Aussie women kiters.

I am no pro rider, just a 40 plus female who loves kiting.  When Kristin sent me this invite to create KB4girls chapters around Australia, I thought straight away that the Sunny Coast had to have one.  If you live on the Sunny Coast and want to be involved, then let me know.

If you are visiting the Sunshine Coast in South East Queensland at any time, then be sure to contact us to join in with any events we might be having.

See you on the water!!

Hi to everyone

I am wrapped to introduce you to Australia's first KB4girls Chapter (Sunshine Coast, Queensland).  Once we get an Australian catagory (and I work out how to upload info), we will be posting regular activities for local and visiting kiteboarding girls or women interested in learning more about this awesome sport.

Very exciting times for women's kiteboarding worldwide!!
