Each year the Girls Inc. of the Island City gives away an Advocacy Award to an individual or group that they feel has worked strongly to advocate for girls and their Girls. Inc program in the community.

The KB4girls Foundation is honored to have been chosen to be within the group to receive the Girls Inc. Advocacy Award 2012 and congratulates its KB4girls Chapter San Francisco and chapter Ambassadors Jane Cormer, Sandy Parker and Rebecca Geffert to their great work and this incredible achievement.

At the awards ceremony Girls Inc. had the following to say:  "This year the Advocacy Award goes to three organizations that have collaborated for an incredible event for 2 years in a row: BoardSports, Kitopia and the KB4girls Foundation - lead by the strong, smart and bold women Jane Cormier, Rebecca Geffert, Sandy Parker and Kristin Boese.

For two years running, this KB4girls GLOBAL event in Alameda has raised more than $12,000 to support Girls Inc.'s programs, has built a community of like-minded women who act as role-models and mentors for girls in our community, and has improved access to sports for women.

Girls Inc. of the Island City is pleased to recognize this partnership for its incredible work to raise awareness around issues important to girls and women in our community as well as their role in empowering women and girls around the world.

KB4girls says thank you Girls Inc. and we are already looking forward to next years event and further collaborations in the future.

KB4girls stands for both, Kristin Boese for Girls and Kite Boarding for Girls and while the foundation was originally founded by Kristin to simply support females in kiteboarding through free clinics based on motivational and skill training it has quickly become a global network for female kiteboarding and now reaches out to others in need through fundraising as well.
